Rick Bolen opened his own studio in 1981, and has been working with a diverse group of clientsad agencies such as McCann Erickson, graphic designers, Chronicle Books, Newsweek and other publishers, Silicon Valley clientsmost notably Intel, and Far Niente amongst a number of Northern California wineries.
In addition to working in his studio, Rick frequently travels on assignment to Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, Canada, Germany, Greece, France, Spain, Turkey, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, India, Nepal, Bali, Burma, and Macau. Some of Rick's favorite locations to shoot are right outside his back door in the vineyards south of Sonoma, California.
His home and studio are located 45 minutes north of San Franciscos Golden Gate Bridge in the heart of wine country. The live/work space includes the Bolen family home, photo studio/office, and a guest cottage on three acres of land.

Rick Bolen Photography is located in a 1200sqft. space with twelve-foot ceilings and a separate office/production space. The studio is equipped with 35mm to 4x5 cameras and all new Speedotron lighting plus a full array of grip gear. With drive-in capabilities location/large object shoots are easy to accomplish. Just be warned in advance: This is not your typical industrial location and the Blue Heron, Jack Rabbit, Great Horned Owl, Canadian Geese and shooting stars can be distracting.

Here are the directions to the studio:
FROM SAN FRANCISCO: Take highway 101 North over the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County. When you reach Novato take the highway 37 exit (stay on 37, you'll be going East for about 8 miles) take a left onto highway 121 North (Sears Point Raceway will be on your left). You are now in the Sonoma Valley. To to the town of Sonoma, stay on 121 and take Highway 12 North.
FROM OAKLAND: Take Highway 80 North to Vallejo, then take highway 37- Marine World exit (going West). Stay on highway 37 for about 10 miles, turn right onto highway 121 North (Sears Point Raceway will be on the right). You are now in the Sonoma Valley. To get to the town of Sonoma stay on highway 121 and take highway 12 North.
